The plan was to visit the addresses I've ever lived. That was a big challenge because in the Netherlands there where more than twenty. And not only in Rotterdam.
We had to look hard.
Many of the old houses have been demolished or renovated in Rotterdam. Also the house where my daughter was born. We knew the house was demolished. What we had not expected was that the StorkStreet here on the first photo no longer appeared to be accessible from the Zwaanshals. And so was my daughter 46 years after her birth back into the last remaining piece of the street she still remembered.
Een ander adres was de Osseweistraat. ook hier waren de meeste huizen inmiddels gesloopt. Maar de plaats waar vroeger een drogisterij zat het de vernieuwing overleeft. Of dat een aanbeveling is ?
Another address was Osseweistraat. Also here, most houses now demolished. But where was it used to be a chemist the original old building survive the renovation. But is that is a recommendation?
Na een snack in het Oude Noorden vonden we nog een hip whisky winkeltje in het Zwaanshals.
en aardige bijdrage voor de weekend reflection
After a snack at the Old North we found a shop in the trendy whiskey Zwaanshals.

It's the second day I wont have to work any more. I have all the time in the world to celebrate the birthday of my oldest grandson. (16 years to day). Retirement forces you to lay down a new course in life. For many others its just work.

Vrijdag trek ik er op uit met mijn dochter en gaan we alle adressen langs waar ik en zij hebben gewoond. Ooit woonde ik aan deze Avenue. Weliswaar op een kamer van 3 bij 4 meter, maar toch op stand.
More then 50 years ago I lived on this Avenue. It hasn't changed the way it looks. Except for the cars. On Friday me and my youngest daughter get out on a road trip. Visiting all or most of the places where I and she lived over the past 65 years. We plan to take our camera's with us. I'll publish some of the results if not all on this blog.

Where I live
The neighborhood where I live lies directly near the river Meuse. This is an area where once the drinking water purification plant was located in Rotterdam. Drinking water was taken directly from the river and purified. The quality of the Meuse water was getting worse and that was one of the reasons why this purification plant here was terminated. The location is converted into a residential development. Besides lots of new buildings, there are many authentic parts of the former destination preserved like this little harbor.
