Rotterdam de Esch

De wijk waar ik woon licht aan de rivier Nieuwe Maas. Hit is een terrein waar vroeger de drinkwaterwinning van Rotterdam gevestigd was. Drinkwater werd direct uit de Maas gehaald en gezuiverd. De kwaliteit van  het Maas water werd steeds slechter dat en was een van de redenen waarom drinkwaterwinning hier werd beëindigd. Sinds die tijd is hier een woonwijk ontwikkeld. Naast veel nieuwbouw zijn er nog authentieke delen van de vroegere bestemming bewaard gebleven. Hier de haven waar materiaal voor de waterwinning werd aangevoerd.

Where I live
The neighborhood where I live lies directly near the river Meuse. This is an area where once the drinking water purification plant was located in Rotterdam. Drinking water was taken directly from the river and purified. The quality of the Meuse water was getting worse and that was one of the reasons why this purification plant here was terminated. The location is converted into a residential development. Besides lots of new buildings, there are many  authentic parts of the former destination preserved like this little harbor.
